ABOUT
Native to south-central Europe, the Mediterranean, and Asia, melissa is an aromatic perennial herb in the mint family. Also known as lemon balm, the use of this herb extends back at least 2,000 years to Ancient Greece and Rome, where it was referred to colloquially as "honey-leaf" and "the elixir of life." Melissa essential oil has a tart, lemony aroma with herbaceous green undertones. Grown and distilled at the Young Living St. Marie's Lavender Farm and Distillery in St. Marie's, Idaho, this essential oil is produced in limited quantities each year with a very low yield per acre, making it rare and valuable. Its aroma creates a pleasant, calming atmosphere that you'll enjoy as you prepare for a restful evening. Additionally, Melissa is commonly found in cosmetics and personal care products because of its skin-benefitting properties.
